The most critical thing to remember the current Mormon church doctrines which is the one that you will face from their bike riding, shirt and tied missionaries that knock at your door. This primary doctrine of the Trinity being two separate gods comes from Joseph Smith's writings and are as follows:

Some men seem as if they could learn so much and no more. They appear to be bounded in their capacity for acquiring knowledge, as Brother Orson Pratt, has in theory, bounded the capacity of God. According to his theory, God can progress no further in knowledge and power; but the God that I serve is progressing eternally, and so are his children: they will increase to all eternity, if they are faithful” (Brigham Young, January 13, 1867, Journal of Discourses 11:286, Underline added).
“GOD IS INCREASING IN KNOWLEDGE. If there was a point where man in his progression could not proceed any further, the very idea would throw a gloom over every intelligent and reflecting mind. God Himself is increasing and progressing in knowledge, power, and dominion, and will do so, worlds without end” (The Discourses of Wilford Woodruff, p. 3, 4th President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Underline added).

From the Book of Mormon
1) The testimony of the Three Witnesses concludes with "And honor be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, WHICH IS ONE GOD."
2) "And I spake concerning the convincing of the Jews. that Jesus is the very Christ,...that Jesus is The Christ, the Eternal God." (2 Nephi 26:12) 3) "For do we not read that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and in Him there is no variableness neither shadow of changing?" (Mormon 9:9) 4) "For I know that God is not a partial God, neither a changeable being; but he is unchangeable from all eternity to all eternity." (Moroni 8:18) |
These 4 verses alone prove that God is a triune yet one, eternal, unchanging, and wasn't a man at one time; Christ is God and eternal.
So in order for you to accept the Mormon's doctrine, you'd have to reject Book of Mormon. But if you accept Book of Mormon you'd have to reject Mormon doctrine.

From the Holy Bible
If Mormons also use the Bible, they still have a problem, as the Bible also has multitude of verses rejecting the Trinity as being anything other than one God and three personages.

Deuteronomy 6:4
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: Isaiah 43:10 (KJV) 10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. John 10:29-31 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one. 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these THREE ARE ONE. |
Also the Bible clearly states that only Jesus is the way to Heaven and the ONLY mediator between God and mankind.
John 14:6
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Acts 4:10-12 [Peter speaking] 10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. 11 Jesus is "the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone." 12 SALVATION IS FOUND IN NO ONE ELSE, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” 1 Timothy 2:5 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, |

The Mormon prophet ADMITS the Mormon Jesus is NOT the Jesus of the Bible
The Mormon is a different Jesus that that the historically accurate Jesus of Nazareth present by Paul and the apostles in the Bible. The Bible says anyone presenting a different Jesus is cursed by God and will definitely not get you to Heaven as the the Biblical Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven. Galatians 1:3-4, 8-9 (KJV) 3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be ACCURSED. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be ACCURSED. |
Conclusion
The issue is really quite simple. The Mormon church doctrines that God was once a man, that Jesus is not God, that God is not a Trinity(Father, Son, & Holy Spirit), and salvation is through Joseph Smith is not only rejected in the Bible's Old and New Testaments but in the Mormon's own Book of Mormon as well. As if this betrayal of Mormons by their own holy book wasn't enough, they are further betrayed when Joseph Smith says anyone who goes contrary to either the Bible or the Book of Mormon is an imposter.

If any man writes to you, or preaches to you, doctrines contrary to the Bible, the Book of Mormon, or the book of Doctrine and Covenants, set him down as an imposter [impostor]. --Time & Seasons by Joseph Smith, Vol5 p490
